Descaling
When hard water is used in a central heating or cooling systems often you will find a build up of lime scale deposits ( Scale ). Often this takes place in the areas with the highest temperatures e.g. Plate heat exchangers in boilers.
Limestone is a very effective insulator and can greatly reduce the transfer of heat in to the water reducing efficiency and increasing running costs. This can also cause reduced flow rates of hot water.
Where there is a heavy build up of scale it can lead to localised overheating which left untreated may result in premature failure of components.
